Shim Sham Shimmy

March 29 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Free – $25.00

3/29/2026 | 2:30-4:00 PM | $25

The Shim Sham Shimmy, created by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant in the 1920s, began as a lively routine featured in Vaudeville shows. Originally performed by chorus girls, it quickly became a staple of tap and jazz culture and later became a popular closing number for dancers & musicians. Tap dancers all over the world know this dance, and it’s commonly thought of as the tap dancer’s anthem. This dance uses four popular steps of the period: the Shim Sham, the Crossover, the Tack Annie, and the Half Break.

*This workshop is ideal for ages 9 – adult, with basic tap dance experience.
Join us on Sunday, March 29th from 2:30-4:00 PM for a great workshop, led by Tap Fever’s Director, Larisa Hall! You’ll learn three choruses, 32 bars each, of the Shim Sham Shimmy: Original Shim Sham, The Freeze Chorus, and The Shim Sham II.
You can either PAY NOW, or bring cash/check with you to the workshop.
